If I have to pick my favorite city, of all the cities I have visited up to now, I would pick New Orleans. It’s been over ten years that I was there on vacation, that I would put in my top 3 vacations so far. Next year I will be back, doing a small Louisiana roadtrip.
By accident I found I found a nice little place called “The Louisiana“, which is located in Haarlem. Of course I had to found out what was going on there!
Don’t worry, this is not going to be a food blog, nor a travel blog for that matter. But what I always find interesting if these little places also have an interesting wine menu.
The Louisiana has a nice selection of wines, that really matches their food menu. For old times sake I ordered the gumbo, spiced it up a little with some Louisiana hot sauce and paired it with a nice white: Kung Fu Girl Riesling, 2014, Washington State from Charles Smith Wines. A fresh riesling, with nice acidity, a mineral taste and citrus fruit aroma’s and a hint of white peach and apricots on the nose. In my opinion I passed for this food & wine pairing, as both really complimented each other.
The Hurricanes aren’t that bad either, if I might say. Oh, and did I forget to mention there was a real live brass band playing in the street? No? So if you can, you should try this place yourself, it’s worth a visit!
